Malaysia Tatler – After a 7-year redevelopment, Hotel Equatorial Group reopened its flagship property in Kuala Lumpur under a new catchy name, EQ. The official opening, held at the Diamond Ballroom, saw the attendance of such prominent names in sport and high society such as Datuk Nicol David and husband-and-wife Dato’ Sri Jeffrey Raymond and Datin Sri Joyce Raymond.

The Star Metro – Malaysians, visitors and tourists alike will find an unusual point of interest amid the ceaseless traffic in Kuala Lumpur city if they are on foot, on the monorail or driving along Jalan Sultan Ismail towards Bukit Bintang. At a spot sandwiched between the hotel’s driveway entrance and the glass doors to EQ’s vast and bright lobby is one of two new sculptures by renowned artist Nizam Abdullah.

Fifty awards were handed out to travel organisations at the intimate awards ceremony held in Singapore, which saw more than 160 tourism and hospitality leaders from Asia Pacific and other regions in attendance.
EQ was honoured to have won Best New Hotel – Asia Pacific.
